For those who own a copy of Spiritfarer or are contemplating buying a copy, one question you might have is whether Spiritfarer offers co-op multiplayer.
To help you make the most out of Spiritfarer, here’s a quick overview of the multiplayer features that Spiritfarer offers.
Does Spiritfarer Have Co-Op Multiplayer?
The quick answer to the question of whether Spiritfarer offers co-op multiplayer is yes, it does.
The multiplayer offered in Spiritfarer includes local co-op on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and online via Remote Play Together on Steam.
Wondering what Remote Play Together is? On Steam, Remote Play Together is a service that lets you invite your Steam friends to join in on a local co-op session remotely via streaming.
Essentially, Remote Play Together gives you an opportunity to play online co-op in a game that only supports local co-op.
To play co-op multiplayer in Spiritfarer using Remote Play Together, both you and your friend will need to be logged in on Steam.
While playing Spiritfarer, open the Steam Overlay by pressing Shift + Tab and then find the friend you want to play with in your friend’s list.
Select your friend, then select Remote Play Together to send them an invite to come join you in the game. If one person owns the games and streams it, another person can join in regardless of whether they own a copy or not.
If both players own a copy of the game, it’s recommended that the player with the beefier computer and/or stronger internet connection be the one to initiate the Remote Play Together session.

Knowing that you can play local co-op or online via Remote Play Together, the next question gamers have is how to start the co-op process in Spiritfarer and what co-op gameplay consists of.
First, when playing local co-op on any of the supported platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch) you’ll both need your own inputs.
For example, a friend can jump in using a second controller on Xbox One or PS4, or you can share Joy-Cons on the Switch. On PC, you can use your mouse and keyboard while your friend uses a USB controller.
The same concept applies to Remote Play Together in that when your friend accepts the Remote Play Together invite and joins in your streamed game using their computer (which counts as a second input), you’ll be able to start playing Spiritfarer in co-op.
With both inputs in and ready to go, you should be able to automatically enjoy local co-op in Spiritfarer by jumping into a new game or continuing a saved game. Local co-op consists of you playing as Stella and your friend playing her adorable cat companion, Daffodil.
Both characters, Stella and Daffodil, are able to do most of the same activities and actions which can be extremely helpful when it comes to working together to progress in the game. After all, two sets of hands (or paws) are always better than one!
The main limitation is that Daffodil is unable to talk to NPCs in Spiritfarer, meaning that whoever’s playing Stella will need to be the one to engage in a conversation where needed.
Again, Spiritfarer offers local co-op on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It also supports Remote Play Together on Steam, letting you stream your game and play with a friend online.

Sony is pretty slow in doing anything and that’s one of the reasons why the Vita is in a pitiful state when it comes sales, but seeing things like Skyrim running on it via remote play makes me wonder why Sony didn’t make it an official feature.

“Using the SDK and VitaRemoteClient, this shows 26-33fps at 95% quality using the remote play like app. You can see how it runs, but a control scheme needs to be figured out as the mouse control stick does not move the view in realtime,” wrote YouTube user eyepatchcars.
