On Twitter, you have two ways to identify yourself: with a Twitter handle and a display name. If you don’t feel your Twitter username (or handle) suits you anymore, don’t rush into deleting your Twitter account and creating a new one. You can just change your Twitter handle, as well as your Twitter display name at any point. Twitter handle the handle is your personal id on twitter, it starts with the @ symbol - hey man, what's your twitter handle, i want to follow you - my handle is @something. Your username –– also known as your handle –– begins with the “@” symbol, is unique to your account, and appears in your profile URL. Your username is used to log in to your account, and is visible when sending and receiving replies and Direct Messages. People can also search for you by your username. Your Twitter handle cannot be longer than 15 individual characters. You cannot use symbols in your username, but you can use underscores. Username of a suspended or deactivated account cannot be claimed. The Twitter handle cannot contain words like ‘Twitter’ and ‘Admin’, because these words are exclusive for Twitter officials. It’s unique to you, appears in your profile URL, and is tied to everything you do on Twitter. It can contain up to 15 characters and should be directly associated with the name of your business. Your display name appears right above your @name and can be changed at.
